The UO Chapter of NAfME Collegiate has started to regularly attend the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, which is the largest international band and orchestra clinic. The clinic, held annually in Chicago, IL, provides wonderful educational opportunities for students and professionals, including:


  
   

  1. ★    Networking with musical directors

  2. ★    Networking with music eduction students

  3. ★    Meeting composers

  4. ★    Meeting famous conductors

  5. ★    Hearing top ensembles from around the world

  6. ★    Lectures from famous music educators and world-renowned musicians

  7. ★    Clinics given by eminent performers on how to start students, and how to improve on       instruments

  8. ★   Gaining exposure to over 30 national music organizations

While attending the Midwest Clinic, students have the opportunity to attend many concerts and shows in Chicago’s rich and diverse culture.  In 2010, Students attended a Chicago Brass performance (http://cso.org/) and the Nutcracker put on by the Joffrey Ballet ( http://www.joffrey.org/).  Students are also exposed to a wide variety of foods not commonly found in Eugene.

In December, 10 University of Oregon NAfME members attended the 2011 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL! We had a wonderful time and learned a lot!
